What does this event cover
One of the most important aspects of the role of early years practitioners is to support the development of children’s spoken language - skills which underpin all other areas of learning and development. – Many children enter Nursery and Reception with some delay in their speech, language or communication but if they receive the right support the vast majority of these children will be able to catch up with their peers.

This training will support practitioners to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence to support this crucial area of children’s development and will provide an opportunity for participants to observe and reflect on a session of TALK FOR WRITING in the classroom.

Participants will:
  • Gain knowledge and a greater understanding of the development of children’s speech, language and communication, from birth to five
  • Understand how to use a range of key strategies to support speech, language and communication development including how to support young EAL learners
  • Be confident to create a rich language environment that supports talk
