Who is this event for
Primary, secondary and special school teachers and pastoral staff who are thinking of applying for their first leadership role.

The programme aims to prepare participants for their first leadership interview and role by:

  • reflecting on the skills, knowledge and qualities needed for excellent leadership in schools
  • equipping participants with the language, behaviours and attitudes of school leaders
  • provide practical tips on performing the day-to-day role expertly

Focus 1: What makes an excellent middle leader?

  • Exploring models and styles of leadership
  • Reflecting on the difference between leadership and management
  • Developing a team with a shared vision
  • Hearing from current middle leaders - what do they wish they had known at the outset
Focus 2: High performing teams

  • The role of data in leadership - analysing it, using it, improving it
  • Getting the most out of meetings
  • The art of effective delegations
  • Planning next steps for you on your leadership journey
