This is a CPD event specifically for Early yearspractitioners / childminders who wish to develop their understanding and practice in relation to young children with SEND
What does this event cover
The morning session will provide an overview of the four broad areas of need as identified in the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
Communication and interaction Cognition and Learning Social Emotional and Mental Health Sensory and physical needs
For each area of need participants will be given a list of useful resources and information to take away with them, to extend and build upon their understanding and knowledge.
'Understanding social ,emotional and mental health in the early years - underneath the iceberg'
The afternoon session will provide the opportunity to look in detail at social, emotional and mental health. This will include considering the influences on a young child's early development and how to support strong and positive mental health and well- being on a day to day basis. There will also be an opportunity to use a specific approach to understanding the underlying factors which influence a child's social and emotional wellbeing and behaviour.
