EYFS Seminar - Musical Development Matters in the Early Years

Starts: Monday 1 July 2019 - 16:30 - 19:00
Venue : Crowndale Centre, 218 Eversholt Street, London, NW1 1BD map
Who is this event for
These EYFS Seminars are open to everyone. Light refreshments will be provided.
What does this event cover
This session will be:

  • guidance on how to use musical development matters
  • exploring musical development in early childhood,
  • establishing enabling musical environments
  • planning music in the EYFS - active listening games, songs and musical activities
This session will be accompanied by Musical Development Matters, a brand-new free guidance that is available to download from Early Education: Musical Development Matters. The course not only introduces participants to the guidance but also demonstrates how easily music can be incorporated into any early childhood setting without practitioners needing any previous musical knowledge or experience. This course is workshop style, fun and informative, exploring ways in which music complements and contributes to all areas of learning and development.

About the trainer:

Nicola has worked extensively as a music specialist in a range of early years settings and on a range of action research projects across the country. Her passion for recognising and valuing young children’s music making has led her to be involved in many early years projects including working with Dr Susan Young and Dr Alison Street as well as presenting at many early years conferences as both a key note speaker and workshop leader. She has written and delivered courses for a range of authorities and organisations across the country working with both early years educators and parents. Nicola is very passionate about empowering and inspiring early childhood educators to make music with young children and to create music making opportunities within their settings. She strongly feels that everyone is born musical and an integral part of early childhood is music making. Nicola is the author of the brand-new guidance document Musical Development Matters, released in September 2018.
Please note
It would be highly beneficial to book both EYFS seminars as themes and strategies are linked giving participants a greater depth of understanding.
