The neuroscience of early childhood, or how babies and young children’s brains are built, is advancing at an unprecedented rate. This course will aim to distil information from the latest research and theoretical interpretations in order for Early Years Practice to most benefit the young children in our care.

This course will introduce participants to the structure of the brain and examine the contribution neuroscience can make to our ability to understand the vital role of emotional well-being in the building of healthy brains.

We will reflect on attachment and nurturing practices and the interplay between the emotional well-being of babies and young children and their cognitive development. You will leave the course with an action plan on how to share the findings from Neuroscience usefully with colleagues and parents. You will know how to monitor your practice for developing high well-being in young children, leading to the most fertile environment for the experiences we offer to have high cognitive value.
