Mental Health Leads in primary, secondary and special schools.
What does this event cover
Training to support Mental Health Leads to increase their knowledge and skills to confidently manage mental health in their schools.

The training covers:

  • How to introduce a whole school approach to mental health 
  • How to support staff with advice, guidance and training 
  • Ways to develop a mental health and wellbeing policy
  • Good practice examples for promoting positive mental health and
  • Where to find good resources for teaching about mental health and coordinating whole school activities
  • Essential information to be able to identify and support children’s mental health needs
  • DfE and Ofsted expectations

Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA) (Cancelled)

Who is this event for
This programme is for Learning Support Assistants/Learning Mentors who wish to become Emotional Learning Support Assistants (ELSAs).

ELSA is an initiative developed and supported by educational psychologists who apply psychological knowledge of children’s social and emotional development to particular areas of need and to specific casework.
What does this event cover
Trainees will learn how to support children and young people to understand and regulate their own emotions whilst also respecting the feelings of those around them.

The course consist of 6 full day training sessions covering:

  • The ELSA role
  • The contribution of emotion to behaviour
  • How to support children emotionally
  • Skills in teaching emotional literacy to individuals and small groups
  • Knowledge of a variety of resources
The outcomes will be achieved through:

  • Presentation
  • Discussion - including opportunities for trainees to discuss and share ideas and good practise
  • Activities
  • Supervision

This is our termly surgery where you can come along and discuss practice issues on a one to one basis with an early years adviser.

The surgery is open to all staff from PVI settings and Childminders - there is no need to book a place, simply turn up.
