Emerging readers and writers

Who is this event for
This training is for practitioners working with the over 3s or those wishing to develop their knowledge of how to support children when they reach this stage.
What does this event cover
This training course will provide participants with the opportunity to engage in practical activities and share ideas to support literacy development and:

- Develop their knowledge of how children become readers & writers.
- Recognise that phonics is not the only approach that supports young children’s literacy development.
- Explore how to create an enabling environment for literacy, indoors & outdoors.
- Find appropriate ways that parents can support the teaching & learning of literacy.
- Answer common frequently asked questions linked to young children’s literacy such as:
     ‘Should we talk about letter names or sounds?
     ‘Should I use upper case or lower case letters’? etc.

This course is for all practitioners or professionals who come into contact with Camden's children and young people during the course of their work.
What does this event cover
This course provides technical training on how to use the eCAF system. Practitioners must attend this training before they can have access to eCAF.

Reading and Writing Moderation for Year 1

Year 1 teachers.
What does this event cover
These are half day training sessions to support teachers with the end of year assessments judgements in reading and writing.

There will be an opportunity for teachers to work together moderating their children’s reading and writing as well as identifying gaps which may need addressing. By the end of the sessions teachers will be more secure in end of year expectations in reading and writing for their year group. Gaps will be identified which will inform teaching and learning to enable children to reach end of year expectations.
