What does this event cover
The Healthy Conversations training was designed by the Camden Health and Wellbeing Team with input from the Camden and Islington Public Health team and the Brandon Centre. It was developed in response to staff feedback following the Camden Can conversations and rising obesity levels in the Borough. The training aims to support participants to understand readiness to change, identify opportunities for conversations on healthy weight and build confidence, techniques and skills for effective conversations and practice.

The Healthy Conversations training is 6 hours and consists of two sessions (half -day each) delivered 4-6 weeks apart with supported practice in between. There is also an option for nursery staff that is delivered as three, two hour sessions with supported practice in between session two and three.

The sessions will be delivered by two of our Health Improvement Practitioners.

Session 1
• Setting the scene/Why are we doing this work?
• Stages of change
• Encouraging behaviour change
• Opportunities for conversation
• Conversation skills
• Factors that impact a child’s weight
