Virtual CPD Session, Digital Classroom, Virtual CPD Session
Who is this event for
For all Early Years Practitioners and Childminders working with in Camden
What does this event cover Background
Domestic abuse and violence is a major part of safeguarding, crime and policy in the U.K. Early years staff are in an excellent position to spot the signs of domestic abuse as research informs us some starts or increases during pregnancy.
The trauma that children experience when they witness domestic violence in the home plays a major role in their development and physical well-being, effects of which can last into adulthood. Parents or carers may underestimate the effects of the abuse on their children because they don’t see what’s happening. (Stanley, 2011).
It can also impact on parenting and life in general.
At the end of this training participants will be able to:
· Define domestic abuse considering its breadth and manifestations;
· Explore the signs and symptoms of domestic abuse;
· Understand how to proceed when they have concerns.
· Identify the impact of domestic abuse on parenting capacity;
· Link the effects of domestic abuse on a child’s welfare and development.
