Supporting Language and Communication needs in the EYFS (EVENT FULL)

Who is this event for
For all Early Years Practitioners and Childminders working with children aged 0 – 5.

What does this event cover
Language and communication needs are considered ‘high incidence’ needs and are therefore the remit of all practitioners. This half day is particularly useful for new practitioners.

The language and communication course aims to develop skills in identify and supporting children with speech, language and communication needs in early years settings.

Outcomes of the Training:
  • To understand what Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) are and how these impact on children in nursery.
  • To understand issues around Bilingualism with regards to Speech, Language and Communication.
  • To know and apply specific strategies to support children with SLCN and develop their communication skills.  
  • To devise a personal goal around the use of a specific strategy to support a child with SLCN.

Participants will be offered the chance to call a follow up one-to -one surgery with a Speech and Language Therapist following their attendance at the training.
