Heads of Sixth Form Network

Who is this event for
This network meeting is for Camden's Heads of Sixth Form.
What does this event cover
An opportunity for Sixth Form leads to discuss every aspect of Post-16 provision, for all mainstream Camden sixth forms, including colleges and academies.

How to ensure adequacy of curriculum provision for all , and how to make that provision good or outstanding; as well as giving an overview of government and LA thinking, regarding policy issues, and management, and teacher actions that work to raise the profile of post-16 students.

Phonics embedded in a rich reading curriculum: phases 4 and 5

Who is this event for
This training is school based and offers the opportunity to observe and reflect on a phonics session taught in the classroom.

This training will cover phases 4 and 5 of the 'Letters and Sounds' programme which focuses on the development of phonological awareness and phonic knowledge needed to apply in the early reading and writing curriculum.
What does this event cover
Participants will develop their confidence, knowledge and understanding of phonics teaching.

The aim of the session:

  • To learn from first-hand experience of observing a phonics session
  • To develop an understanding of phonological awareness
  • To develop an understanding of the teaching expectations of phases 4 and 5
  • To introduce a range of practical activities and resources that will support phonics teaching

Participants will:

  • Observe and reflect on an observed lesson
  • Be more confident in their subject knowledge and planning phonics sessions
  • Learn about ideas and activities to make phonics sessions fun and interactive

Who is this event for
All School Staff.

  • To discuss how recent events may have impacted on a young person’s vulnerability to radicalisation.
  • To know more about the current extremist narratives to which young people may have access.
  • To understand how extremist and terrorist groups may be exploiting current issues to recruit.
What does this event cover
We live in a time of change. Extremist and Terrorist organisations are changing too. We can support our young people better if we give time to developing a bit of knowledge and identifying our current skills which can build resilience to all kinds of threat.

Safeguarding Children for the designated person (EVENT FULL)

Who is this event for
For Settings and Childminders working in the EYFS with children aged 0 - 5 who are the designated person, and Committee Members responsible for the EYFS.
What does this event cover
The session will focus on:

- The role and responsibilities of the designated person.
- EYFS safeguarding and welfare requirements.
- How to make a referral to MASH.
- Multi agency working.
- Allegations made against the adult.
- Creating a safer early years environment.
- Introducing Prevent Duty.

Before the training, we recommend the delegates to:

  • To have the correct software on your device to join the virtual session.
  • To join in the virtual session earlier than advertised to allow for any IT issues.
  • Ensure you are in a room away from distractions or interruptions.
  • Ensure no under 18’s are present as we may present or show graphic content due to the nature of the training.
